THE BELINGA FOUNDATION is an NGO that has proven itself over the years. It has evolved to highlight today the concept of Sustainable Rural Development. The five (05) pillars of its mission are: Art, Culture, Health, Education, and Sustainable Development.

THE BELINGA FOUNDATION is based in the USA, where it was legalized in 2018. It has been operational in Cameroon since 2019, having been registered under the NGO framework by Ministerial Order No. 000047/A/MINAT/SG/DAP/SDLP/SA/CBA, dated May 30, 2023, issued by the Minister of Territorial Administration under the 1990 law governing associations, which guarantees freedom of association. It carries out multiple activities in the United States and Africa, with the support of more than 400 volunteers, and has a positive impact on over 5 million lives.

Its main objective is to contribute to the rural and sustainable development of populations in the region, the nation, and beyond, through multiplier effects. Collaboration with local partners, the Government, and traditional authorities is essential to the success of its vision.

-Promoting local craftsmanship through the preservation of traditional artifacts for their refinement and the transmission of knowledge to future generations. THE BELINGA FOUNDATION encourages creativity, supports local artists by offering them the opportunity to showcase their talents, and helps them build a sustainable livelihood.”

Facilitating access to quality, low‑cost healthcare for rural populations through the combination of modern medicine and traditional plant‑based medicine.”

Sustanaible development

- Identifying and supporting tomorrow’s leaders, promoting excellence at the secondary and higher levels, facilitating access to higher education for all, and improving the quality of education through modern tools and accessories (ICT, Digital, E‑learning, etc.).”

- Developing a circular and sustainable economy by relying on local natural and human resources, as well as clean energy systems.

Visionary founder of The Belinga Foundation, Professor Steve Felix Belinga is a young Cameroonian neurosurgeon based in the United States. Driven by deep commitment, he dedicates his expertise and vision to the cultural, educational, and social development of South Cameroon.

Through the international Bia So Mengong Festival and multiple community initiatives, he actively works to preserve ancestral heritage while fostering youth empowerment and supporting disadvantaged populations. His action goes beyond national borders to embrace a broader ambition: contributing to the human and cultural development of Cameroon in particular, and Africa in general

In a context marked by the determination to curb the erosion of traditional knowledge, the international ‘BIA SO MENGONG’ Festival stands as a major event that has brought together artists, thinkers, artisans, and audiences from the ten regions of Cameroon, alongside delegations from five partner countries — notably Gabon, Congo, the Central African Republic, and Equatorial Guinea.

In response to the essential need to promote living heritage, the BIA SO MENGONG Festival stands out as a major crossroads of fraternity, creativity, and intercultural transmission.
