The Epic of AKoma Mba
Rising in the parade, the Fresco of Ngan Medza recalls the Ekang epic of crossing the Sanaga on the back of a mystical serpent. It celebrates ancestral memory and the invisible spirits that safeguard the Ekang community across generations.
This Fresco otells the epic of the Ekang, Sawa, Grassfields, and Sudano‑Sahelian peoples, each arriving from different horizons to root themselves in one land. It celebrates their decision to join voices and cultures in harmony, shaping the collective soul of Cameroon.
The Fresco of Akoma Mba recounts the heroic battles of the son of Mba Evini, a legendary figure of Ekang mythology. Founder of the mythical city of Engong, Akoma Mba embodies courage and the warrior spirit, carrying the ancestral memory of struggle and resilience that defines the Ekang people.
