The sky of July 20, 2025 was tinged with celestial notes and fervour. At the heart of the Bia So Mengong Festival, the grand finale of the choral singing competition has established itself as a sacred event where the soul, the voice and the art have united to celebrate the Divine.
It was the choir La Voix de l'Heure which, as a pathfinder of emotion, opened the ball. Special guest of the evening, she did not compete, but her performance set the scene: that of an open-air temple where each note seemed to write a new prayer.
Then the competition heated up.
The Divine Angels are the first to make hearts vibrate. Their gentleness and coordination carried away the first breaths of an already conquered audience. Their passage, inhabited, gave a glimpse of an exceptional evening.
EPC Nkolowon-Sion will follow, rigorous, powerful, precise. Their meticulous choreography and vocal accuracy resonated like an echo of the sacred, with a mastery that left nothing to chance.
But it was Koungoulou Essok's Los Angelos who electrified the stage. Overflowing with confidence, they sang not only with their voices, but also with their bodies, their looks, their hearts. A total offering. Their interpretation transcended singing: it was a declaration of love for life, for faith, for harmony.
The jury, rigorous guardian of excellence, relied on demanding criteria: dress, choreography, vocal technique, audience reaction and stage time management. And if all of them delivered beautiful scores, only one group could climb the highest step.
Los Angelos de Koungoulou Essok won this edition of the Gospel competition. The verdict came in an explosion of screams, applause and tears. The audience, standing, did not hide its happiness. It was more than a victory: it was the brilliance of a people celebrating the beauty of shared song.
At the end of this blessed night, one thing is clear: sacred music has found a home in Mengong. And those who were there will long keep in their hearts the resonances of this suspended moment.
